SEND Offer

We are small, nurturing school which offers all children quality first teaching.

All children receive support which is specific to their individual needs at the current time. This can be supported by the class teacher, teaching assistant or SENCOs, but it may also involve other external agencies and professionals, for example Speech and Language Therapists.

The 2015 Code of Practice states that a person has SEND if they have a learning difficulty or disability which calls for special educational provision to be made for him or her. A child of compulsory school age or a young person has a learning difficulty or disability is he or she:

• has a significantly greater difficulty in learning than the majority of others of the same age, or

• has a disability which prevents or hinders him or her from making use of facilities of a kind generally provided for others of the same age in mainstream schools or mainstream post-16 institutions.

To understand what support and services are available in Peterborough to help with your child’s needs you can view the “local offer” for children and young people with SEND: www.peterborough.gov.uk/residents/special-educational-needs/local offer/

If you would like to speak to a member of staff regarding your child's SEND needs, your child’s class teacher will be happy to help with any concerns or queries you may have. In addition, our SENCO: Miss Blyth can be contacted via: senco@newborough.peterborough.sch.uk
